Jennifer Garner is a West Virginia native born in Houston on 17 April 1972. William John Garner is her father. He was a chemical engineers for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann, her mother was a professor at a nearby university. Following in the footsteps of her father she completed a degree in chemical engineering. To pursue her acting dream the actress decided to move in New York and try her hand in acting in Hollywood. Her Broadway role was accompanied by a job at a local establishment. She was in a guest role in the TV show "Felicity." This is here she met Scott Foley, her first husband. Garner began her career in Alias, an action thriller. Her first major part was in the acclaimed romantic comedy 13 Going on 30. The film featured her as a teenage girl trapped in a thirtyplus year old's body. Garner picked Gary Winick (director) to direct the film. The two searched for projects that could be made until Winick's death in the year 2011. The year 2009 was the first time Garner became an artist ambassador by Save the Children U.S.A. Apart from promoting early education, literacy, and nutrition at the national level, Garner's role involves promoting nationwide literacy. Garner has been a member of the board for this nonprofit organization since the year 2014. She is a proponent of early childhood education.
